The next meeting of the
Collectors Club of Boston
will be held at
7:30 P.M.
on
Tuesday, April 28th, 2015
at the
New Light Korean Church Trinity
730 Main Street, Waltham, MA.
This
will be the
combined meeting now known as the “Thomas P. Rockwell Memorial
Lecture”.
The feature of the evening will be a talk by Mark D. Tomasko
on “The Art of Bank Note Engraving”.
Mark is a researcher of bank note engraving and of the artists who
produced them. He also is an aficionado of the artwork used
in bank note vignettes. His interests lie in the works of the 18th and 19th century engravers and their intaglio products.
He has written numerous articles that have appeared in Paper Money
Magazine published by the Society of Paper Money Collectors,
the International Bank Note Society Journal, Bank Note Reporter, The
Numismatist, and other journals dealing with paper money, art, and security
engraving. He has curated exhibits from his collection at the Museum of
American Finance, the Federal Reserve Bank
of New York and the Grolier Club. His speciality is documenting the bank
note engravers, designers, vignette artists, the engraving process and the bank
note firms. He is the author of The Feel of Steel: The Art and History
of Bank Note Engraving in the United States.
The building will be open by 6:00 P.M. for this very special meeting, additional parking can be found after 6:00 P.M in the back
parking lot of the Library directly across from the church.

The feature of the evening will be a talk by Eric Hildebrant on
“Cut –Down Masathusets Silver”.
We
will also be holding the elections for club officers. According to the
club’s Constitution and By-Laws, the President, Vice-President, Secretary
and Treasurer are to
be elected annually and there are to be six Directors with three being
elected annually for a term of two years. Currently we have William M.
Harkins as President; Sherry Briggs as Vice President; Eric Goossens as
Treasurer; Brad Seidel as Secretary; Directors
positions for re-election are Jay Bailey and Myron Emerson; Sherry
Briggs as past President will serve as Chairman. We are now accepting
nominations for all positions. If you would like to be put on the ballot
for any of the positions now up for election please
